Fibreglass single sided step ladders provide the same leaning-ladder functionality as aluminium models but with a non-conductive frame that does not carry electrical current. They are the standard ladder for electricians, switchboard technicians, and any trade working in proximity to live wiring, overhead power lines, or energised equipment. Aluminium Platforms stocks fibreglass single sided step ladders from Indalex, Bailey, and Staruiju from 4 steps to 14 steps with load ratings of 135 kg, 150 kg, and 180 kg.

Indalex Tradesman Fibreglass Range

The Indalex fibreglass tradesman single sided ladders at 135 kg cover heights from 1.5 m to 2.4 m. These are the entry-level fibreglass option for tradespeople who need a non-conductive ladder for occasional electrical work. The fibreglass stile extrusion is heavier than aluminium at the same size, which is a trade-off for the electrical safety benefit.

Indalex Pro Series 180 kg

The Pro Series fibreglass single sided range for the 1.8 m model. At 180 kg, these ladders are rated for daily industrial use in facilities where the electrical risk is a constant factor. The heavier gauge fibreglass stile provides more rigidity under load than the tradesman grade and holds up better to the impact and handling common on worksites.

Bailey and Staruiju Options

Bailey fibreglass single sided step ladders are available in the Pro series and use the same rung design as their aluminium equivalent. Staruiju fibreglass single sided ladders at 150 kg for 4 steps and offer a cost-effective alternative for commercial electrical contractors who need to outfit a team of technicians.

Fibreglass vs Aluminium for Electrical Work

Aluminium conducts electricity. Working on or near energised systems with an aluminium ladder is a documented cause of workplace fatalities. Fibreglass does not conduct current under the conditions that arise in normal electrical trade work. The Australian electrical safety standards specify non-conductive access equipment for work on or near live circuits. If in doubt, use fibreglass.
