Load Rating Grades
The domestic 100 kg range from Indalex suits occasional household access. The tradesman 135 kg and 150 kg ladders cover light to medium commercial use. The Indalex Pro Series 180 kg models are built for daily industrial use and certified for worksites where equipment must hold up under repeated load. Bailey Pro Aluminium single sided ladders are available from 6 to 14 steps.
Step Count and Height
The range runs from 6 steps (suitable for shelf and overhead access at standard ceiling heights) up to 14 steps for plant maintenance and high-bay warehouse access. Step count determines the safe standing height, and taller models come with wider-spaced rungs and deeper feet for stability when leaning at full extension.
Brands Available
Indalex ladders use solid riveted construction and wide flat rungs. Bailey Pro series use swaged rungs for a positive grip surface. Staruiju models are available in both aluminium and fibreglass and offer a cost-effective option for medium-duty commercial work. All models meet Australian Standards for portable ladders.
Choosing the Right Grade
If the ladder will be used daily on a worksite with tools in hand, choose a 150 kg or 180 kg rated model. The extra structural margin keeps the ladder rigid under load and reduces flex in the rungs and stiles. Domestic 100 kg models are not rated for trade use.
