Access platform ladders combine the climbing action of a step ladder with a full-perimeter guardrailed standing deck at the top. Where a standard step ladder provides only a small top rail for hand support, an access platform ladder gives the worker a large flat deck enclosed on three sides by guardrails, creating a secure elevated work position for tasks requiring both hands and extended dwell time at height. Indalex Pro Series Platform Ladders 180 kg
The Indalex Pro Series aluminium access platform ladders cover 0.6 m to 1.2 m platform heights at 180 kg industrial rating, with full three-sided guardrails on the platform deck. The platform rungs use the same rung design as the Indalex Pro Series step ladders, providing consistent grip. Fibreglass equivalents from Indalex are available in the same height range for use in electrical environments.
Bailey Access Platform Range
The Bailey access platform ladder range covers multiple height options with both aluminium and fibreglass frames. Bailey platform ladders use the P150 MKII platform deck specification and include optional rear tilt castor kits that allow the loaded platform to be wheeled on its rear castors without unloading the deck.
Platform vs Step Ladder
An access platform ladder is the correct choice when the task requires the worker to remain at height for more than a few minutes, when both hands need to be free for the work, or when tools and materials need to be placed on a flat surface while working. A standard step ladder is adequate for a quick overhead task. Any task involving sustained assembly, testing, adjustment, or installation work benefits from the stability and security of the guardrailed platform deck.
Fibreglass Option for Electrical Work
All aluminium access platform ladders have a non-conductive fibreglass equivalent in the Indalex and Bailey ranges. For work adjacent to electrical switchboards, overhead wiring, and energised equipment, the fibreglass model eliminates the risk associated with an aluminium frame in proximity to live circuits.
