Truck Access Platforms
Truck access platforms provide safe, stable stair access to the top of truck trays, tanker bodies, flat-bed vehicles, and other elevated commercial vehicle surfaces for loading, inspection, and maintenance tasks. The Star TAP range is a heavy-duty aluminium truck access platform built for daily use in transport depots, warehouses, and processing facilities where workers access vehicle tops repeatedly. Star TAP Range
The height measurement refers to the effective access height to the vehicle surface. Tanker and curtain-sider truck tops in Australia typically range from 2.5 m to 4.0 m at the highest point, so the 3M and 4M models are most commonly specified for general transport depot use.
Construction
Star TAP platforms use heavy-duty aluminium structural sections for the staircase frame, handrails, and base. The stair approach angle meets safe access requirements and the platform deck at the top provides a standing area for inspection, sampling, and hatch access operations. Base outriggers provide stability without anchoring to the floor, which allows the platform to be repositioned as needed between different vehicles.
Semi-Welded vs Full-Welded
Semi-welded TAP models at 4M and 6M use a bolted connection at one or more joints in the frame, which allows easier field assembly, disassembly for transport, and adjustment. Full-welded models at the same heights provide a fully rigid one-piece structure with no field connections required. Both meet the same load and safety requirements.
Applications
Bulk liquid tanker access for sampling and ullage checks, curtain-sider and flat-deck load inspection, refrigerated trailer temperature probe access, and truck body maintenance are the main applications. Transport depots, fuel terminals, chemical storage facilities, and food processing plants are the primary purchasers of the TAP range.
