Fibreglass Access Platform Ladders
Fibreglass access platform ladders provide a full-height non-conductive access platform with perimeter guardrails, large standing deck, and staircase entry. They are the safest fixed-position elevated work solution for electricians, switchboard technicians, and any trade that needs to work at height for extended periods near live electrical systems. Aluminium Platforms supplies Indalex fibreglass access platform ladders at 180 kg industrial rating from 0.6 m to 2.1 m working height.
Indalex Pro Series Fibreglass Platform Ladders
The Indalex fibreglass Pro Series access platform ladder range for the 0.6 m model and extends to for the 2.1 m. Each unit features full perimeter guardrails on three sides of the platform, a non-slip fibreglass deck, and anti-slip ladder rungs. The 180 kg load rating covers a worker with tools and is appropriate for continuous daily use in industrial and commercial electrical environments. The fibreglass construction is specified rather than aluminium because these platforms are positioned adjacent to or directly beneath energised electrical equipment, switchboards, and distribution panels.
Guardrail Safety at Height
The full perimeter guardrail system on these platforms means the worker is enclosed on three sides when standing at the working height. This is the key safety difference between an access platform ladder and a standard platform step ladder. For tasks that involve sustained overhead work, panel connections, or testing work where both hands are occupied for extended periods, the guardrail enclosure eliminates the risk of stepping off the platform edge. On an open platform step ladder, the worker must self-monitor their footing while working; the guardrail removes that cognitive load.
Applications
Data centre fitouts, switchboard installation, substation maintenance, high-bay lighting replacement, HVAC duct installation, and cable tray work are common applications. The non-conductive fibreglass construction means these platforms can be positioned directly under or beside energised equipment without the electrical risk associated with aluminium frames. In explosion-risk environments, fibreglass is also preferred because it does not generate sparks on impact with steel or concrete surfaces.
Height Configuration
The Indalex Pro Series fibreglass platform ladders are available at 0.6 m, 0.9 m, 1.2 m, 1.5 m, 1.8 m, and 2.1 m working heights. Select the model based on the primary working height for the application. For variable-height requirements across a facility, two or three different height models can be held on site to cover the range of access points without compromising posture by working at a non-optimal platform height.
Handrail Accessories
Indalex fibreglass Pro Series handrail accessories are available separately to extend or reconfigure the guardrail layout for specific site conditions. These are useful where the standard three-sided guardrail configuration does not match the approach direction or equipment layout at a particular access point.
